Basket and Shawl Ministries
Wesley's Basket and Shawl Ministries extend the compassion of the congregation to our own members and also to persons beyond our community of faith.
Members of the Basket Ministry deliver a basket containing treats and symbols of the prayers and good wishes of the church to shut ins quarterly. Lisa Doughty is the coordinator of the Basket Ministry. If you know of a shut in who would benefit from the delivery of a basket, please contact the church office at 345-3917, or fill out the attached form:
Members of the Shawl Ministry take a handmade shawl and a blessing to persons who have been seriously ill, have lost a loved one to death, or have experienced other life challenges. They also take baby shawls to those who have newborns. Margaret Speer is the coordinator for the Shawl Ministry. Shawls have been sent as far away as Shreveport, LA in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina where they were distributed to people throughout the Gulf Region by a United Methodist Church. If you know of someone who would benefit from the gift of a shawl, please contact the church office at 345-3917.
Both the Basket and Shawl Ministries provide opportunities for volunteer service. There are a variety of ways to help, including assembling baskets, making shawls, and making deliveries.
